Nick Netti’s “Drifting” is a Lo-Fi Love Song (Sort of)

Over a drum pattern that brings to mind Boi-1da beats from So Far Gone, rapper/producer/singer Nick Netti speaks on love. Specifically, he speaks on how he’s been drifting through time and space since moving on from someone (or trying to move on, at least). Sonically, it reminds me of early Drake with a bit of Bryson Tiller in there. That’s to say, it’s lyrical and emotional but also has a distinctly old-school vibe within the new school methods of expressing himself.

Think of it kind of like a Mac Miller track; we know that Nick’s from the new school of hip-hop (like Mac). However, he sonically and emotionally pays homage to the greats before him (also like Mac). Finally, I love the fact that Netti did everything for this track (produced it, wrote it, mixed it, et cetera). As an artist who tends to try and do everything on my own, I love that there are others out here doing the same thing and doing it well. Check out the track above and remember to support dope music in all its forms.
