Nao Yoshioka Presents “Wave”

New York-by-way-of-Osaka singer/songwriter Nao Yoshioka’s “Wave” is one of those tracks that sticks to your ribs like soul food. For me, it’s because of the soulful vocals, the beautiful composition and the overall vibe of the song, which is dark, but also triumphant. You can hear the soul (and the teachings of soul forerunners) in her voice.

This song is on the heels of her career hitting a milestone; she’s been in the game for ten years and shows no signs of being complacent or ready to slow down. I love it! I also just love her vocals, as she’s got a mix of sounds within her voice. She’s got a bit of H.E.R., a bit of Summer Walker for the newbies, she’s even got a bit of Janet Jackson in there too (don’t forget, y’all; Ms. Jackson can sang when needed). Check out “Wave” below and support dope music in all its forms.
