Happy October, everyone! Let’s kick off the month with a collection I (unfortunately) missed when it first dropped. However, better late than never. This is equally a sequel and an extended version of Yae’s From Me 2 You, which was released in January. The Deluxe version features a mix between soulful production and gritty lyricism, with a healthy dose of emotionally-charged content as well. Clocking in at about 35 minutes and 16 songs, FM2UD is, well, a perfect album. It knows what it wants to accomplish (making people move but also think), does so with precision and manages to make the equivalent of conscious bops, lyrical trap and vibe-heavy lyric-heavy tracks.
I also like that the project features mainly Yae, as some deluxe editions/remakes lean heavily on guest features. Instead, aside from three tracks, we get Yae handling everything. It works and works well. The only thing, for me, is that it was hard to pick a single track to highlight. Each song has something different for everyone and each track complements the other. In other words, you need every track here to paint the complete story.
If you haven’t heard this one before, do so now. Check it out above and support dope music in all its forms.
