Described as “an intimate hip-hop-inspired raw track recounting the feelings of an empath who feels it all,” “Selfcare” is one of those tracks that’ll grab you because it’s sexy but also emotionally-intense. I mean, yes, the song is about taking care of oneself when everything seems to give them hell. However, it’s more than just that. The track truly is directed at “our inner recluse” and tells them that they’ll be okay as long as they take care of themselves and love themselves while also setting boundaries. As someone who’s a helper, I sometimes struggle with setting boundaries for people. That’s not to say I let people walk over me. It’s to say that I want to help everyone, even when it hurts me. I’ve gotten better about it, but I’ve got some work to do. Songs like this speak to me because of that. So check it out above and support dope music in all its forms.
