SiDizen King and Wes Period Present the Upbeat “Sugar Lemon Tree”

This one is an intriguing cut. I mean that in the best way possible, because it’s upbeat and happy, but has just a twinge of darkness within it. I think it’s because while King wants his peace and his piece of the pie, he knows that there may be times where things just don’t go according to plan.

However, the light wins out here, as the LA-based artist crafts a feel-good anthem for those who want to slow down and just enjoy all that life has to offer, the bitter, the sweet and the bittersweet. I’m here for this type of energy and song because it’s multilayered. That’s especially when you consider SiD’s background as an artist and as a Dreamer (the latter of which paused his career for a bit). I also like that the song, unlike some very positive songs, doesn’t preach or act as if it knows all the answers. Instead, we’re presented a story from an equal, not someone lording their way of life over others.
