Matt Nye dropped a new song today. You should listen. Go do that and support dope music in all its forms. Now that that‘s out the way, let’s actually discuss “RoML.”
Nye’s “Rest of My Life” features frequent collaborator Mark Vasquez to create an anthemic track for those who feel life is beating them down. While it acknowledges that this world is, indeed, screwed up in some ways, the song prompts people to keep pushing and keep moving. Vasquez’s vocals help tie this one tightly together and Nye’s lyrics are, as usual, on point and hard-hitting. These two are one of my favorite duos in indie hip-hop right now, as they bounce off each other so well and bring out each other’s high points.
The song’s also prompting people to realize that it’s not too late to help try and turn the world around. We need more than thoughts and prayers to do so, of course (even though those things do help). Let’s make this world a better place for you, me and the next generation. Let’s heal and rid ourselves of generational traumas and move upward. These are some of the things that I get from “Rest of My Life.” I hope that you all get something equally amazing and action-inspiring from it as well.
Check out the track below and do what I told you in the beginning: support dope music in all its forms.
