Above, we’ve got the latest project from North Carolina artist Razah Sharp, who’s seen some of his collaborations appear on SOTB in the last few weeks. Strong Side keeps the same energy as most of the collaborative tracks, in that it’s lyrically heavy and finds the artist darting through tracks at a breakneck pace. Add that into an album that delves into a lot of subject matter and you’ve got a project that makes it impossible to deny it. It’s gritty, it’s honest and it’s just plain good music. If that doesn’t intrigue you, maybe the fact that the production is boombap-based, but still manages to be different enough on each track so that it doesn’t become monotonous.
The whole project is exactly what you’d expect from an SOTB artist to watch. That is, there are lots of bars, lots of subjects, great control of the mic, etc. The project isn’t a laborious listen, instead breezing past while still hitting you in the chest with bars for days. Check out the project above and do the thing. Please support dope music in all its forms and keep on the lookout for new artists. Sometimes, your new favorite artist is right under your nose.
