I absolutely love that Black Hibiscus plays every instrument you hear here. He’s like a Prince disciple. I had to get that out the way before speaking on everything else I love about the song. Sonically, the song is very pleasing, as are the vocals. That’s to be expected, especially since the artist is a helluva talent. Otherwise, I wouldn’t waste anyone’s time speaking on it.
This is the second of three singles to be released from the Nigerian-born artist’s The End of the World project. The project seems to delve heavily into what love means–and what the loss of love means, while speaking on the emotions that come out when relationships end. It’s even got a City of God undertone, so I’m definitely intrigued with what Black Hibiscus is going to do on the project. Check out “Basquiat” below and support dope music in all its forms.
