Posi Presents “The Plan”

DMV-by-way-of-Cameroon-and-North Carolina artist Posi’s debut song, “The Plan,” sounds like she’s been here for a long time (and is planning to stay for a long time). The twenty-two-year-old singer/songwriter blends R&B and Afrobeats sounds to create a sound that allows her to be free. The song itself is about a roadmap to freedom and happiness, one that finds Posi distancing herself “from situations that compromise [her] expressions of self.” This is the type of track I live for on SOTB (one that’s unabashedly helping its artist live their truths).

This is slated to appear on Posi’s upcoming EP, Troubles of the Heart. This is a project that’s been in the works in some ways since 2019. I think it’ll be worth the wait if it’s as harmonious and intellectually-pleasing as this song is. If I had to choose two artists Posi reminds me of, I’d probably say Tems (with the vocals) and H.E.R. (with the songwriting) If you’re curious to why I’m gushing hard over this track, check it out below and support dope music in all its forms.
