Sareem Poems and Madi Give Props to the Family People with “Keep Going”

Sareem Poems has legit become one of my favorite artists with his grown-up conscious raps. He makes music for the grown-ups in the rap fan world–and does it well without sounding like an “old man.” His latest, “Keep Going,” produced by Madi, is an ode to the men and women who keep their families going. It’s one for those who go and sacrifice to make sure their kids are straight. I love that sort of energy, mainly because I’m a dad and I’ve learned to give up things to make them happy. I’d go without if I had to do so just to make them smile.

Today was an example of this, for instance. It rained most of today in the DMV, so Halloween was at risk. In years past, I may’ve said “hey I don’t think it’s a good idea to go out” if the weather was crappy. I hate the rain, unless I’m cuddled up with my girl as the rain knocks against her window.

That said, today, I put my Ryuji Sakamoto (yes, the Persona 5 character) costume on, took Jeremiah out as Superman to trick-or-treat–and had a lot of fun doing so. My point is parents come in all shapes, forms and sizes. We all (should) share one commonality, though: that we’ll do damn near anything for our kids. The good parents share this commonality, at least.

Anyway, check out this powerful, soulful track below and support dope music in all its forms.
