Talyana Sings About Depression on “Cloud in My Throat”

Depression sucks. You know that, especially if you’ve followed me or my music over the years. The world can be a depressing place that still doesn’t have as much sympathy for its depressed denizens. We’re told to suck it up more than we’re told it’s okay not to be okay.

Talyana knows this and lets her soul be bare on this one, as it speaks about what depression feels like for her. The song’s namesake seems to describe the dryness she feels when depressed and how she just wants to wake up the next morning. I’ve been there, probably more times than I’ve written or sung about. It’s not a good feeling, which is brought to life here by dark lyrics and a melancholy instrumental. It’s not a song for the faint of heart—but still should be heard.
