Y’all know what I’m about to say. We’ve all been there. We’ve all had break-ups from a relationship that was a bit wonky (not exactly toxic) and we’re trying to heal from it. I was there about a year and a half ago with my sons’ mother. I broke because, honestly, I thought I needed to be perfect. And me, being me, could never be perfect. Thankfully, Ashley was there, as a friend first and foremost, to help me along the way and heal. Granted, I had to do most of the heavy lifting (through therapy, etc.). That said, I’m in a much better space with her than I was with my sons’ mother. And because of that, I’ve been able to be a better person towards my children and their mom.
Lujza understands the fact that break-ups happen and we have two choices: either we sit there crying over something that wasn’t meant to be or we grow up and grow out. I chose to grow out (hence the relationship with Ashley), and Lujza and her featured artist Michael Kay chose to do so as well. The song samples Isaac Hayes’ “Ike’s Mood,” made famous (again) by Mary J. Blige with “I Love You” and it is a certifiable bop.
