Perspective Discusses Falling Off the Map on “Maltese Falcon”

Chicago-based rap duo Perspective grabbed me in their pitch because they’re truly DIY artists. They produce, write and record everything from scratch, even going as far as to create their own samples. On “Maltese Falcon,” the duo talk about growing up and seeing more people less. When we’re younger, we have huge friend circles as we’re trying to navigate life damn near any way we can. As we grow up and grow older, that circle becomes smaller and, sometimes, you become like a Maltese Falcon–a reference to the film noir of the same name. This one is a bittersweet look at growth, one that doesn’t deny it happens…but reflects on some of the repercussions that come with it.
