Pelligroso Raps About His Life on “Street Poetry”

Rappers can create movies with their words like the greatest of traditional poets. The way a rapper details his life and/or surroundings? It’s both magical and a testament to the phrase “rap is the art form.” SoCal-born rapper Pelligroso takes it a stage further on “Street Poetry” because there’s no capping to be had.

Everything the formerly-incarcerated artist says has truth and knowledge behind it. The twentysomething rapper and DJ speaks with confidence and gives life lesson to those who may be headed down the same path as he once did. I’m here for that. I’m also here for artists finding themselves through music, as it appears Pelligroso did, specifically with the fact that music was his therapy while locked up and through his record label, Give a Beat Records, and their mentoring program called “On a New Track.” Check out the powerful track above and support dope music in all its forms.
