Above, we’ve got the latest from Shaheed and DJ Supreme, “STEM, STEAM and STREAM.” Plain and simple, this is a song about teaching the young and having them advance in ways that their parents (or their parents’ parents) maybe didn’t. As a father of two boys under 13, I’m here for this, especially because these learning models help round out children in so many ways.
Sonically, the track is a boombap-friendly trip through education. More importantly, this is one of those “we can play it around everyone” sorts of tracks. I appreciate that because the kids, after all, really are our future. They don’t always need to hear four-letter words or not-so-enriching messages (and yes, as a father and an artist who curses a fair deal, the irony is not lost on me). The visuals (below) are also pretty poignant and speak on self-esteem as well as getting your booksmarts right with the world. So, you know what to do: check out the song above (or the visuals below) and remember to support dope music in all its forms.
