Cashus King and Jeff Johnson II Speak on All Things Black on “Cheshire Cat”

Over a soulful chipmunk sample, Cashus King and Jeff Johnson II’s “Cheshire Cat” is Black AF. And, in its Blackness, the duo speak on a wide variety of pro-Black topics. Between reminding Black people they need to stick together–voting or otherwise–and that Black people seemingly will always (in one way or another) have a target on their backs, this one grabs you. Not by the hand, though. No, “Cheshire Cat” grabs you by the throat and says “either open your eyes or perish.” I love the sample, I love the knowledge and I love how Jeff hit me up on IG to send this one my way. Typically, I pass on IG submissions. However, I’ve come to know Jeff through interactions on IG (so I made a great exception to my rule). This one? Yeah, we need this one in our playlists. Check it out below and do the thing: support dope music in all (and I do mean “all”) its forms.
