Tellie Floydd and Leezy Vent on “Lonely Road”

Sometimes, you just need to get sh*t off of your chest. Over a sample of The Ethics’ “Lost in a Lonely World,” one of the most-fire samples you could use for a vent, the duo present their thoughts on the world. “Lonely Road” has a boombap-meets-high energy 2010s sampled song sort of feel to it, which lends itself well to the issues presented here. Between speaking on people “getting rich off the hood” and not giving back, fathers not being fathers, and the world just being screwed up in a lot of ways, we get a lot to digest on this track. Plus, as mentioned before, you can’t lose or screw up a track utilizing this sample. It’s just about impossible. That’s because the sample makes you want to spit your soul on wax or however you want to describe how most artists do their thing these days.
