“Lifestyle,” a smooth track detailing, well, life as a G, is a song from Phoenix’s I can’t go out sad album. The song itself was featured on a previous edition of Quickies, along with two more tracks from the album. If you haven’t heard the project, I recommend checking it out because it’s one of those projects that speaks on a variety of topics and issues within the Black community. The DMV native goes in on his songs in a way that’s Drake-meets-Kendrick in some ways. It’s mainstream-friendly but deeper than surface level. Now, the visuals for “Lifestyle” essentially put forth the notion that, as a G, you’ve got to provide for your family and make sure everyone’s good; it can’t just be all for one.
