In a world where tracks are getting shorter and shorter, I’m still a big fan of songs longer than 2:45. I’m old-school like that, sue me. Heck, I’ve passed on songs with hella BARS and amazing wordplay because the song ended at 1:36 and I’m sitting there, ready to hear more like:

Caddyshack reference aside, I love when artists do songs that are a bit longer than average.
Enter Cleveland, Ohio native werdperfect with a four-minute freeverse that tackles a variety of topics. Seemingly inspired by the likes of Mac and Earl Sweatshirt, “Barstool Analyst” is a track that goes in depth about a lot. I think I like this one because, outside of the length, it’s a commentary on socioeconomic issues as well as a bit of braggadocios lyricism. If you’re feeling this one, be on the lookout for werd’s album, which drops on May 21st.
