Q.Rock639 Gets Very DIY and Lo-Fi on “DTLA Freestyle”

As a (somewhat) no-fi artist–my No-Fi King days are kind of behind me–I don’t just dismiss songs because of their mixes. Unless the beat overpowers the vocals and I can’t make out a single line, you’ll usually at least get a playlist feature from me. Enter Q.Rock639 with his “DTLA Freestyle,” a short freeverse that covers a variety of topics while also just giving us BARS over a lo-fi beat. Recorded over a Discord chat, the freestyle reminds me a bit of Mach-Hommy in its verbal gymnastics and its “dusty” sound. It’s one of those tracks that will have you bob along with the beat as you make the screwface to some of the bars. For those of you new to my site, that’s a good thing. If you want to know what actual lo-fi DIY hip-hop sounds like, not just the piano and drums stuff you get on YouTube (no shade, just being real), check this one out and support dope music in all its forms.
