The Sun Vishnu Offers Positivity and Healing on “Black Boyz N Headphones”

Music is capable of many things. Above all, it can heal wounds (be they present-based or generational). And while every song may not have this energy, the messages can still be beneficial. What I mean to say is this: even if music can sometimes be born from pain, music itself is not meant to inflict damage. It’s meant to push us to go further.

On “Black Boyz N Headphones,” The Sun Vishnu gives us a track to inspire, motivate, and heal some of the traumas Black men have experienced, all through the power of music. That’s really the long and short of the song. It’s full of inspiration and positive change while not sounding, lyrically, like some other mainstream artists. Instead, the song focuses more on the pluses in life while not dwelling on the negatives. “Headphones” doesn’t shy away from a few swears and adult situations. Sometimes, you’ve got to add a mother—-er so people can hear you, regardless their perceived “ignorance.” However, what makes this one shine for me is how it tells its story and how it speaks on healing.

It’s not portrayed as a one-size-fits-all sort of thing. Nor is the concept of healing seen as a one-time thing. No, the song finds Vishnu speaking on the journey people take with music and how that can lead to healing. It doesn’t discount the hard work it takes to buck trends and revolt against expectations and the status quo. However, it continuously showcases that that work is worth it. If you need a headnodder with creativity and positivity, I recommend checking this one out below and doing the thing we do here on SOTB. If you like it, support it (and dope music in all its forms).
