Now, y’all know that Nipsey Hussle has me blocked and I don’t always agree with the shit he speaks on (you know what I’m talking about). However, the brother is steeped in Blackness, does do good in the community, and has bars. For that, even with our ideological differences, I still rock with him to a degree. Today, I’m discussing his new track “Hussle and Motivate” from Victory Lap. I love the gritty “Hard Knock Life” sample, slowed down to give it a sense of urgency and malice not seen on any use of this flip, Jay included. It’s a beautifully dark song about getting what’s your’s and keeping some sort of faith in a higher power when the shit hits the fan.
