Sinitus Tempo has been one of my favorite artists for a minute. Last week, he dropped “Pathways,” a track featuring Mick Jenkins, Don, and Add-2. A hopeful-but-real track, “Pathways” discusses ways to make it out of the rut we find ourselves in during our lives. However, it also talks about getting stuck in those ruts, either through our own hands or through measures set up against us. Mick Jenkins shines on this one, as does Add-2.
Both artists bring their storytelling and bars-friendly approach to this smooth instrumental. The song works as a whole because of the production. The verses would’ve worked on any beat, but this one makes things hit that much harder. The electric piano-like melody blending with with the melodic chorus and the mellow drums create an energy that’s telling you to do better–but understands if you can’t. Check it out below and remember to support dope music in all its forms.
