Deetranada is dope; we’ve known that around these parts since before her appearance on The Rap Game a while back. However, her latest, “Don’t Be Dumb,” goes in on a level that I personally haven’t seen from the Baltimore legend-in-the-making hit before.
I’m actually mad that I missed this one until just now.

Hitting a smooth double-time flow over a brass-heavy beat, Nada stakes her claim to the throne. That’s not all she does here. Instead of just offering up empty claims or empty threats, she lyrically destroys any previous notions fans and foes may’ve held of her. We get a focused assault of the beat that lays out why she’s one we need to continue to peep.
This is a new era and it’s one that shows the Baltimore artist hungrier than ever. If this is where she’s headed, buckle the hell up and enjoy the ride. While she says music is less fun these days, you couldn’t tell by the way she eats the track up. My only gripe is that, while it is just a freestyle, I wanted more of the track. But that’s the landmark of good music (and a good artist); if it leaves you wanting/needing more, you’ve got some good shit on your hands.
Check out the freestyle above and remember to support dope music in all its forms. Don’t be dumb, y’all.
