Let’s Talk a Bit About “Is You F-ckin?”

Today, I made the choice to visit HNHH for the first time in a minute. No, I wasn’t prompted to because of the YFN Lucci situation. Instead, I just wanted to see if there was any new music I should check out. I mean, as much as I like to post about things I love, that can’t be the end-all, be-all. Someone closer than close to me said I can’t my full SOTB potential if I’m only posting my thoughts on what I love.

Enter Yella Beezy’s “Is You Fuckin?,” a song released over the last 24 hours that features Yella Beezy doing Yella Beezy things.

Now, don’t get me wrong: I like Beezy on occasion. His hook on Big K.R.I.T.’s “I Made” was dope and his first few songs, I put in my rotation when they dropped. Hell, I chuckled at the sheer audacity of “Restroom Occupied” and couldn’t help but to listen listen. I just didn’t know if this one was the one for me. Remember: I’m a boy dad. I wouldn’t really want my children listening to my own stuff at 10 and 6, much less raunchy sex rap, edited or otherwise.

But I listened because, again, you can’t just write about what you love.

Over a Southern AF instrumental, Beezy raps about fucking and hustling. It’s simple stuff in theory, but where Beezy shines is that he’s still “rapping-rapping” while just talking about sex and money. It’s still not a song I’d put in rotation ad nauseum like “That’s On Me.” However, that’s admittedly unfair. “That’s On Me” was a scorching banger and this one’s more like “hey, I’ma make a song about having a big dawg dick primed for nasty sex.” It’s not exactly for me, but I do appreciate what he did. He channeled Three 6 in some ways and gave the fellas a “WAP”-esque track of their own. That’s at least worth something, I think.

Check it out for yourself and let me know if it’s a banger or a dud. Dope music comes in all shapes and sizes, and what’s not for me may be perfect for you.
