C.Shreve the Professor’s Go for Mine is Welcome in 2021’s Craziness

TL;DR

Shreve’s latest, produced by French producer ROMAINNN, is a jazzy re-introduction for 2021.

I got this one in my inbox this morning. It’s got me posting about it on a Saturday (one of a few standard SOTB days off). That should tell you all you need to know about “Go For Mine.” But if not, here’s a bit more about the track. A jazzy track produced by French producer ROMAINNN, “Mine” features Shreve doing what he does best. That is, he raps his ass off and makes it be known that he isn’t one to be denied. After last year’s ILE.Pro, I wondered where Shreve would go with his sound.

This one feels a bit more like hip-hop comfort food. In other words, it doesn’t exactly feature Shreve deviating much from what’s worked well for him in the past. That’s not a bad thing, though especially given the wacky shit we’ve seen so far this year. Sometimes, you’ve got to return to your roots to map out your future. I think that’s exactly what Shreve does on this one. It’s a great track and one that, if you’ve never heard any of his music before, will get you ready to hear what else he’s got to showcase.

If you like this one and haven’t heard much from the professor-turned-artist, I’d probably recommend starting with 2019’s GROWN, then bouncing from his other projects, (such as 2017’s Mommy Love to Dance and Daddy Love to Rap). As I’ve said time and time again, Shreve’s got bars and he’s got heart. Plus, he’s real with his approach to hip-hop. What else can you ask for? Check out “Go for Mine” above and remember to support dope music in all its forms.
