When we first came across Big Latto (f/k/a Mulatto), she was a teen rapper on The Rap Game‘s first season. Since then, the 20-something artist has gotten some big cosigns while still making music people can listen to. I wasn’t the biggest fan of “Bitch from the Souf.” However, I appreciated that Latto was rapping instead of just doing whatever on a beat to get clout. Even when she raps about her sex game, she does so in a way that you’re still able to vibe with her lyricism.
Her latest bars come in the form of a remix of/freeverse over SpotemGottem’s “Beat Box.”

Here, she decides to back up her claims of being one of the best rappers out with a scathing minute-plus barrage of bars. She backs away from talking about her sex game and eats the beat like…well, you know what I’m getting at here. The track was already a viral hit, so I imagine this remix will put even more ears on the song. She kind of takes control of the track and makes it her own, which is key when remixing/freeversing over someone else’s track.
Maybe I’m out of Latto’s main demographic; I’m a thirty-two-year-old father who raps mainly for therapeutic reasons. That said, she does have bars and can ride just about any beat you give her. Plus, she never sounds out of place with any artist’s energies. Those are some of the universal signs of being great in my book, regardless of age. Check out the track above and remember to support dope music in all its forms.
