“Live from the 301, riding up 301” is how GB starts off his newest track “Night Mode.” Lyrically, the song sounds a bit like Logic mixed with Drake in its approach. It’s very radio-friendly while still having some quotable lyrics in the mix. The hook lends itself well to, say, a TikTok (especially the “call me butter cause I’ve been on a roll” line). Sonicially, the song is still bass-heavy/trunk-rattling enough to be played just for the hell of it. In other words, something like a mix between latter-day K.R.I.T. and the aforementioned Bobby Tarantino.
But don’t just take my word for it. The track is flame emojis throughout, except when it ends. I say that because it ends at about 2:15, which is the perfect time to catch a vibe but also enough to leave you wanting/needing more. With that in mind, it’s the perfect way to introduce the Maryland artist to the world. So check out “Night Mode” below and remember to support dope music in all its forms.
