Now, I’ll be completely honest. This one normally wouldn’t get my attention enough to write about it, as I tend to stay away from pop music on the site. It’s not because I think pop is less than; it’s because there are so many pop-centric sites out there.

With that in mind, there was something about the infectious nature of Kid Travis’ “ithinkilikeu” (I think I like you) that grabbed ahold of me for its just-under-two-minute runtime. It could’ve been the frantic energy exuded through the instrumentation, which seemingly blends pop and chiptune sensibilities into a pretty enjoyable jam. It could’ve been that Kid Travis’ vocals remind me of a mix between soulful Bieber and Chris Brown. Or it could be both of those things and the fact that the song is a banger, through and through. It’s one of those songs you could hear in a twenty-something-centric romantic comedy–or played for a bit of darkness in something like Euphoria. All in all, it’s a solid track, one that’ll make me check out what Travis does next.
