Jazz is always one of my favorite art forms. I mean, not many others can make entire moods come about with just instruments. Torontonian Desarae Dee hit my line with this one, “Your Energy” featuring King Chino, last week. I sat on it for a week, not because I didn’t want to feature it. Instead, I didn’t really know what I wanted to say about it.
I mean, on first listen, it’s exactly what she said it was: a jazz fusion track that blends gospel-esque pianos and organs, jazz instrumentation and an electric guitar into a beautiful medley of sound. When you get down to the nitty-gritty, it’s a track that’s more about two sounds coming together to create great energy, something like that first spark when two lovers meet. You don’t know what’s going to happen at that first glance, but you know “damn, this is going to be special.” That’s the feeling I got from “Your Energy,” so I wanted to share it with the rest of you, my beautiful SOTB Faithful. Check out “Your Energy” below and remember to support dope music in all its forms.
