If you love someone, you should want the best for them–even if it’s not with you. This is usually seen as a truth. For Nicole Ariana, in the midst of a relationship breaking down and ending, she realizes that love can cost a great deal. That’s especially if it’s not a healthy love (even if it was healthy at one point). Ariana says that “every relationship is a lesson and opportunity to grow” and this relationship may have cost her, but she’s earning it back bit by bit.
The Halifax native’s visuals for “Costs a Lot” find her in a motel or apartment (possibly after leaving her ex) and rinsing the relationship off of her with a shower while getting ready to start over and learn from the past. It’s that act of cleansing that the entirety of the song centers around, both physically and metaphorically. The track is a part of Ariana’s upcoming CRYBABY EP, which is slated to release sometime in 2022. Check out the song and its visuals below and remember to support dope music in all its forms.
