On a galactic-esque beat that still has a neo-soul feel to it, Macklyn and his songmates Monielle and LEEVILLE proceed to present something that is, well, quite unique. That’s a good thing here because I’ve gotten a few of submissions these past several days that sound, for the lack of a better word, pedestrian. “RADAR” is anything but that.
“RADAR” sounds like if Childish Gambino would’ve sang that one Dwele song “I’m Cheatin’.” That is, if Gambino took it and made it less about his girlfriend’s freaky side and more about how said girlfriend wakes up all his senses. The song is melodic and harmonic, meaning that it sounds good to hear multiple voices sing the same lines at the same time. The beat helps hold everything together, as DEViANt Sounds’ production creates a beautiful soundscape, one that’s equal parts electric and smooth. If you’re like me and you need some smooth R&B to put on this evening, check this one out below and support dope music in all its forms.
