Oliver Attacks the “Piano Strings” to Speak on the Black Experience and Personal Growth

First things first, you should check out Oliver’s project Stay with Us, which this song is from. The brother is dope in a young Lupe sort of way. The project proper deals with a lot of the Black experience (the positives and the negatives that come with being Black in America, including exploitation and racism) and his own growth and loss.

It’s perfect that his team hit my line with “Piano Strings” to highlight this, because this one goes in depth about some skinfolk not being kinfolk and just speaks a lot on his own experience, both as a Black man and as a young person in 2021. He’s about talking through his own losses and gains to become a better person while also providing music that can uplift his people. I’m here for that, as you should be too if you’re on SOTB. Check out “Piano Strings” and the album proper and remember to support dope music in all its forms.
