The songs that catch my ears the most are the ones where I can see myself. Henny and Lance Nelson’s “Wanna Dance?” is one of those sort of songs, because I’ve been in their shoes. I’ve been in a club or a bar or a party and have locked eyes with someone, realizing that the chemistry is there. However, that someone’s with someone else who doesn’t really give a damn about them. It’s one of those things that makes you want to break them free (no, I’m not talking about “saving” people) and expose them to what life could be like.
The track itself reminds me of a Kaytranada production, as it’s bouncy and has a lot of soul within it. Vocally, it’s kind of got a neo-soul-meets-alt-rap vibe, mixing Chance’s rapid flow on “All Night” with a Slum Village sort of sing-rap approach. Henny’s vocals are smooth and Lance’s raps are pretty engaging as well. If you’re in the mood to dance, this one could very well be your jam. Heck, I’m not that much of a dancer anymore and I found myself singing and two-stepping along with the track.
