Above, we’ve got an SOTBMusic debut from college-aged rapper MJangles, the moody “To Infinity (A Way Home).” Channeling his inner “infinity (888)” vibes, the young rapper/Harvard student proceeds to discuss a bevy of topics. Ranging from his detachment issues and insecurities to his burgeoning self-confidence, “To Infinity” strives to find a figurative and literal way back “home” for the artist. That “home,” be it just here on Earth or a more concrete location, is needed so he can continue his growth as a man and lyricist. It’s one of those tracks that puts you in the mind of the artist while still not giving us the entire story. It instead opts to give us a look, but still have us come back over and over to his work for the rest of his creative life.
I’m here for the production, as New York-based producer Lincoln samples a jazz song for Jangles to rap over. I’m also here for the mood both artist and producer provide listeners with here. That’s because things start out a bit mellow and moody, but slowly transform into something more upbeat and full of perseverance. I enjoyed this one thoroughly and want to see what else the student/lyricist has prepped for listeners in 2022. If you’re in the mood for some introspective lyricism, this one’s for you.
Check out the track above and do the thing: support dope music in all its forms.
