I’ve been there. Hell, I made a song back in mid-to-late-2018 about one of my old jobs and how it damn near broke me (go stream “Office Space” from Son of the Beast while you’re at it). It gets better, especially if you find a job you like doing. Or, in some cases, it gets better if you can find a job you at least tolerate.
If you’re like Pachinko and producer Emilio Dumar, though, you want something more than the 9-5 life. And I feel that, too–even though I’m good working a 9-5 and writing on the side (with the occasional album here and there). The 40-hour work week is archaic and this one’s about running away from the stressors of a hellish 9-5 and never returning. Why? Well, the job Pachinko sings about sucks ass and it’s soul-crushing. I like this one because, while it has a bit of a poppy feel, there’s a soulfulness in Pachinko’s voice that’s reminiscent of a Giveon.
Check it out below and remember to support dope music in all its forms. Also, 9-5’s aren’t for everyone–just like entrepreneurship isn’t for everyone. There’s nothing wrong with that. We’re all human, we’re all capable of different things at the end of the day. What’s good for me may not be for you and vice versa. That said, always pursue your dreams.
