Canadian hip-hop artist Anthony OKS hit my line with his latest visuals, “Line of Fire.” The song itself is a banger, mainly because he speaks on his growth as a human over the years and manages to do so in a way that doesn’t make you feel sorry for him. Instead, it makes you want to cheer him on as he navigates a treacherous world that seems hellbent on eliminating positivity. The song is also about “finding the shining light to become who you’re meant to be,” a message which I love wholeheartedly.
Sonically, Anthony reminds me of a mix between Yasiin Bey and Common, with a bit of Talib Kweli in there in his cadence. In other words, if you like your conscious rap with a side of self-reflection and self-improvement, this one’ll be right up your alley. I also love the visuals, as they feature a variety of familial photos throughout the track while Anthony raps. Check out the powerful track/visuals below and support dope music in all its forms.
