jonnychang Presents “Normal” Visuals That Discuss Anxiety and Depression

You may remember that last week, I spoke on jonnychang’s release The Weather Inside during Vol. 46 of Quickies. Today, I came across the visuals for what’s being called the “first episode” of the accompanying music video series. The visuals, as suggested by the title, speak on how things aren’t exactly what’s typically considered as “normal” within jonny. He’s speaking specifically about his battles with anxiety and depression on this one, though.

If we’re being real, most of us deal with some semblance of anxiety or depression. Y’all know that I sure as heck do. Because of that, it’s more normal to deal with mental health issues than what’s (stereotypically) considered “normal.” I love that artists are breaking the stigmas and speaking more bluntly and honestly on their mental health these last ten or so years than they did in the past. In fact, though these anxieties manifest as masked individuals chasing jonny, he eventually is able to free himself of their grasps–even if it’s only for a little while. Sometimes, that little reprieve is all we need to figure out our next moves and grow because of them.

The next visuals will be for his song “You,” so I’m curious to see how that song’s represented. For now, check out “Normal” below and support dope music in all its forms.
