X Delivers Some “Heart Eyes Cause You Special”

I don’t really know how to describe this one, at least I didn’t on first listen. However, after running “Heart Eyes Cause You Special” back a few times, I’ve come to a conclusion. It’s as if Earl Sweatshirt did his best Lil Wayne circa “I’m Single” impression over sparse drums and boombap-esque production. If that sounds like a mindscrew, it is–but in the best way possible. It’s equally a love song as it is a “don’t take us too seriously and just enjoy the idea of an ‘us'” sort of vibe.

X (pronounced as “ten,” like the Roman numeral) is a Baltimore producer/artist, and that Baltimore diversity comes out in spades on this short song. This is his first solo single since “Next Day Demo” from late 2021, one that I went back to peep after “Heart Eyes.” I enjoyed this song, for sure. Because of that, I’m passing “Heart Eyes Cause You Special” along to you, the SOTB Faithful, so you can hopefully rock with it as well. Check out “Heart Eyes” below and support dope music in all its forms.
