SOTBMusic Quickies Vol. 61, 7/15/22

Today’s going better than yesterday, that’s for good and damn sure. I’m still (technically) carless, but I’m not going to let that get me down (too much). It’s the weekend, so like Bad Girl Riri, I’m going to say cheers (to the friggin’ weekend) and keep it pushing. We’re getting two Quickies in a week, a throwback to the halcyon days of early 2022. Granted, we’re still playlisting–but I’ve gotten some motivating/kind words about the new format of Quickies. As long as the artists are happy, the readers/listeners are vibing out to good music and I’m supporting dope music in all its forms, I may have to add more playlists to the SOTB site.

On this beautiful Friday, we’ve got a group of songs about positivity, keeping up that good energy and shining in the face of adversity (whether it’s self-imposed or imposed by someone else). In other words, we’ve got a collection of songs that’re here for a good time–and a long time. I, for one, am here for that–especially considering that my week has been on some good ol’ bulls*** with the whole car situation. Sometimes, though, you’ve got to hit a setback to make an incredible comeback. As CM Punk said, “the get back is gonna be bigger than the setback.”

If you’re in the same boat as me, I feel that–at the very least–one song will touch you and help you keep pushing. I mean, we are only as strong as the things we surround ourselves with, after all. If you’re like me, you try to surround yourself with good people, good vibes and good things. That way, even when life sucks a bit, you’re never down for the count. Check out Vol. 61 of Quickies below, support the artists who’re in the playlist and do the thing. You know the thing: support dope music in all its forms.
