Zach Churchill Speaks on Addiction and Trauma on “Surrender”

A powerful song knows its power and uses it to motivate and inspire. Zach Churchill’s “Surrender” is a darker song, but one that speaks on topics we still skirt around at times. Specifically, the song speaks on unresolved trauma and how it can lead people to become addicted. Be it to drugs, alcohol or toxic relationships, unresolved traumas and addiction can go a bit hand-in-hand.

Over an instrumentation that brings to mind Third Eye Blind and Radiohead, Churchill’s vocals are hauntingly beautiful, singing about struggles and how he doesn’t want to always fall victim to his darkness. I’m here for that sort of song, even if it’s still speaking on the addiction and such in a present tense (I mean, we are all works in progress–trust me). Check out the song below and support dope music in all its forms.
