Color this one under “the 2010s are back in full force,” as I’ll admit: the last time I heard anything from Chaz was in the late 2010s with his KILL Vol. 1 mixtape. Between first popping up in the early 2010s and now, the DC native has become a father, an advocate for himself and others like him and has also become an indie artist. As such, he’s free to do as he pleases, musically, as seen in songs like the one we have here today.
His latest, a bouncy-but-hard-hitting track named “Bang,” is one of those “back like I never left” tracks, as it features the lyricism French is known for and also has him flying around frenetically over the beat. Sonically, it reminds me of a Kendrick track, circa DAMN. I love the energy and the lyrics, plain and simple. This one, along with the song “Finally Free,” serve as a reintroduction and as singles for his upcoming Finally Free project, which is due out in October. If the parent project’s anything like the children, you’ll have a proud papa for sure. Check out “Bang” below and support dope music in all its forms.
