Basi Raps About the City on “City Boyz”

Basi’s “City Boyz” is a bop. However, it’s a bop that’s multilayered and one that isn’t afraid to be a bit different. I love the jazz-rap production and how that elevates the new-age hip-hop stylings of Basi, which reside between autotuned rap and neo-soul. This track is slated to appear on an upcoming project with Basi and Mikos Da Gawd. If it’s anything like this one, I feel you’re going to get a lot of head-bobbing moments, but also a diverse project.

I’d love to see an actual video for this one, but the lyric video has enough going on in it that I’m not needing a full-on visual just yet. That’s because the lyrics, while they just scroll up the left side, feature all sorts of different fonts and logos. As a font/logo nerd, I appreciated this visual a lot. So check it out below and do the thing. Support dope music in all its forms.
