If you haven’t heard of Tamani Joy yet, he’s definitely an artist you should take a listen to. The Baltimore-born rapper/songwriter has an air about him that’s calming, like a nice cup of tea compared to some of the artists out in the area. That’s no shade, to anyone, but you need mellowed vibes right along with the turnt-up. His latest, “VOILA!,” finds Joy bouncing over a fun beat, discussing his growth as a man, growth as an artist and growth as a new father (Joy is a recently-christened girl dad).

I am HERE for it all, especially because the track’s lyrically sound and it’s different from what you typically get. It’s hip-hop at its core, but experimental in its hip-hop. It’s lyrical and bouncy, but also has a lot of heart. All in all? It’s the type of track I live for. I see this being a turning point for Joy, not just because this is something that he seems to naturally grown into. I see it as such because he has a comfort level here that sounds like an artist who’s been around for decades.
