Emi Secrest Says that “Diamonds are Pressure” on New Song

Emi Secrest may be pretty familiar to you. The Memphis-born, LA-residing artist has an extensive catalog of R&B jams. Plus, she’s a bit of a reality TV star; the singer/songwriter/vocal coach appears on The D’Amelio Show as Charli D’Amelio’s vocal coach and friend. I don’t follow the show, but I love good music. That said, “Diamonds are Pressure” is good music.

The track reminds listeners that pressure makes diamonds and hard situations make us stronger and beautiful because of them. I’m here for that sort of message. It also helps that Secrest reminds me of a mix between NAO with a bit of Ari Lennox in there. That’s to say, it’s retro soul with a modern twist.
