Canadian group Brothers of Song’s latest is like a mix between Adam Sandler’s “Chanukah Song” and your standard holiday well-wisher. It’s equally upbeat and features some teaching moments. As I’ve said time and time again, the Jewish community is cool by me. I love (almost) everyone in some way, shape or form, so anti-Semitism and negative vibes aren’t welcome here. With that in mind, anytime I get to highlight something besides your standard SOTB post? I jump at the opportunity, especially if the track in question is good outside of just being different from your standard SOTB piece. “Giving it Up for Hanukkah” is a good song with a great message, even if you’re not Jewish. We’re about two-plus weeks out from Hanukkah and about a month out from Christmas… so tis the season to support dope music in all its forms.
