D2X’s “Understand,” it’s one of those songs that feels very Jay-Z-like. I obviously mean that in the most-sincere and greatest way possible, as Jay is one of the GOATs for many reasons. I think it’s because of the production sounds like something 9th Wonder or early-era Ye would’ve given Hov. The added bonuses are the fact that D2X’s lyricism also sounds like an early-to-mid-2000s Jay-Z.

The song itself is anthemic in nature, made for “all the people who may feel like they’re stuck in the Matrix.” All in all, the song is amazing. D2X knows his strengths and weaknesses and doesn’t try to lord said strengths over people. Instead, he wants everyone to get their share of the pie of life. It’s got me hyped for D2X’s upcoming project, which is currently untitled but set to release in 2023. If the album’s anything like this song, D2X may further the idea that he’s one to look out for sonically and otherwise. Check out “UNDERSTAND” below and support dope music in all its forms.
