Julian Roy’s mother is a feminist. What that means is that Julian grew up knowing that women are strong, powerful and incredible. That plays into the “playful but wholesome [and] genuine” lyrics to his latest song “Hold You Up.” Meant as a song about being there for the women in your life, Roy’s vocals are a high point. However, it’s his songwriting that grabbed me. That’s because a song like this could have been corny as all get out. However, the singer/songwriter gracefully walks that fine line and never panders nor does he sound disingenuous. Check out the song below and support dope music in all its forms.
