First of all, happy belated birthday to the bro Scotty Banx. Yesterday, on his 25th birthday, he dropped a new project.

September Baby features three tracks, a birthday pack (h/t Miss Kam) of sorts that showcases the gruff-voiced Baltimore rhymesayer spitting his soul over sped-up soul samples. While I’m not one of those “soul samples make everything better” types, hearing Scotty spit over them had me bobbing my head and absorbing his stories.
Sonically, I think if you go in expecting bars like early-2000s NYC rap or Bossman’s earlier stuff (for those Baltimore heads out there), you’ll be happy with this one. If you’re a fan of Banx (why wouldn’t you be?), you’ll be happy at this one. If you want good-ass music, you’ll be happy with this one. All in all, you’re bound to find something you rock with about this one.
John Wells features on “Blood Brovas,” solidifying why Banx and Wells are two of the brightest stars in the Baltimore region–in this rapper-slash-writer’s opinion. If you’re feeling sleepy from the pre-autumn music hangover, wake up and listen to this one. September Baby is available on Bandcamp below. Remember to support dope music in all its forms.
