Wrestling-influenced duo Griff and Scorcese return with their newest effort Midnight Express, named after the legendary tag team. Scorcese’s raps layer over Griff’s beats like second nature, which is always a plus. Where the project shines is that Scorcese manages to never lose focus, even when he’s talking about some “boring gun raps.” He’s proud of who he is and uses that proudness to spit some dope bars.

The project plays a bit like this. It’s, to put it plainly, like Camp Lo’s 90s beautiful luxury raps (fitting due to the “Ode to Camp Lo”) and modern boombap while still having nerdish tendencies. In other words, it’s good shit, pal. But unlike Vince McMahon or Tony Khan not always doing what’s best for business, Griff and Scorcese deliver where it counts. Check out the project via Bandcamp and other DSPs below and remember to support dope music in all its forms.
